CENTCOM: 45 vessels redirected during enforcement operations targeting Iran
Washington, August 4 (Hibya) – The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer has supported the maritime blockade targeting Iran as part of ongoing regional operations. CENTCOM said that, as of August 4, 45 commercial vessels had been redirected, two vessels had been disabled, and boarding operations had been carried out on two vessels.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) issued a statement regarding maritime operations related to Iran.
According to a post on CENTCOM's social media account, a US sailor assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) was on duty in the ship's Combat Information Center, while the vessel was operating in regional waters in support of the US maritime blockade targeting Iran.
The statement said that, as of August 4, US forces had redirected 45 commercial vessels, disabled two vessels, and conducted boarding operations on two vessels as part of the ongoing operations.
CENTCOM stated that these activities are being carried out to ensure that vessels comply with the established rules.
