The statement said that the operation was carried out in response to the downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter the previous day and constituted a “proportional response.”
CENTCOM stated that the operation was conducted in response to Iran’s “unjust aggression” and that U.S. forces would continue to protect their interests.
