European Council President Antonio Costa stated that he had a productive meeting with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to hear his assessment of the war in Iran and the outcomes of the recent consultations held in Islamabad among the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Turkey.

Costa noted that the EU is deeply concerned about the prolongation of the war and the increasing global impact, stating: "We wish Pakistan success in its peace efforts. The EU supports all mediation initiatives. Only dialogue and diplomacy can bring peace and stability to the Middle East, in full respect of the United Nations Charter and international law."
