Duda: Poland experienced its most painful loss in recent history in 2010
Warsaw, April 10 (Hibya) – Polish President Andrzej Duda issued a statement on the anniversary of the Smolensk plane crash.
President Andrzej Duda recalled that on April 10, 2010, a plane carrying an official Polish delegation of 94 people, including former President Lech Kaczyński, First Lady Maria Kaczyńska, and prominent figures from public, political, and social life, crashed in a forested area while attempting to land at Smolensk Airport in Russia, killing everyone on board.
Marking the 15th anniversary of the tragedy, Duda said: "We remember. We honor them with respect. Our respect and gratitude for their attitudes, dedication, and contribution to Poland’s development are also a reflection of the respect we hold for ourselves as citizens and patriots. May their souls rest in peace!"
