Fletcher: It is important that humanitarian teams can continue to use the Adre border crossing
New York, October 1 (Hibya) - United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said he welcomed the development allowing humanitarian teams to continue using the Adre border crossing between Chad and Sudan.
United Nations Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher said in a statement that the Adre border crossing is a vital lifeline for people in Darfur.
Fletcher said keeping the border crossing open was one of his key access requests during the United Nations General Assembly and thanked the authorities in Chad and Sudan. Fletcher noted that the decision saves lives.
