New York, March 21 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Tom Fletcher emphasized that the existence of the UN is more critical than ever in a period marked by global chaos and increasing military adventurism.

Stating that "Critics say that the UN is not needed in such a world," Fletcher pointed to the founding philosophy of the institution and its vital importance in times of crisis, adding, "But we were created for times like these."
