Ghebreyesus: We are once again calling for the protection of health services
Geneva, April 16 (Hibya) - World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has called for the protection of health services, including all patients and health workers in Gaza.
WHO Director-General Ghebreyesus reported that in the attack on the Kuwaiti field hospital in the El-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, Gaza, 9 people were injured, one person was killed, and 4 ambulances were damaged.
He pointed out that among the injured were health workers, patients, and their companions, adding, “Attacks on hospitals can prevent patients from seeking health care due to concerns for their safety and may render facilities inoperable, cutting off a critical lifeline for hundreds of people.”
Ghebreyesus reiterated the call for the protection of health services for all patients and health workers in Gaza, stating, “We are calling for urgent humanitarian access to deliver health supplies to Gaza and across Gaza. Lift the aid blockade.”
