Guterres: India shows it can grow clean energy and industry simultaneously
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for turning the climate crisis into a development opportunity and making the clean energy transition fair and fast.
UN Secretary-General Guterres emphasized that India is able to expand access to clean energy while also developing its industrial sector.
Calling for the alignment of climate and development goals, Guterres said:
“Let us turn the climate imperative into a development opportunity and make the clean energy transition fair and fast for people and the planet.”
Guterres stated that in tackling the climate crisis, it is critical for countries to both increase energy access and ensure economic growth.
