Guterres: The future of clean energy is being shaped today
New York, June 25 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres called for accelerating the clean energy transition, highlighting the role of renewable energy in the global energy system.
United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres stated that the future of clean energy is no longer a distant goal, emphasizing that renewable energy has become the cheapest, fastest, and most reliable new source of energy today.
While noting that significant progress has been made in the energy transition, Guterres stressed that the process is still not moving quickly or fairly enough, saying, "Renewable energy is the cheapest, fastest, and most reliable new source of energy."
Guterres said the current period presents a major opportunity to accelerate the global transition to clean energy and called on governments and all relevant stakeholders to take more determined action.
