Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva made an assessment of national development measures, health infrastructure, investments in education and programs to combat hunger.

Delivering a message of independence in his opening remarks, Lula da Silva said, "Brazil chose to be independent."

Referring to investments in the health sector, the Brazilian President said, "In health. By investing in the production of vaccines, medicines and supplies, we strengthened SUS and the national industry. We made progress in cancer treatment and control. We provided radiotherapy equipment for all states."

Sharing his education-focused vision, Lula da Silva said, "In education. By establishing hundreds of institutes and university campuses, we developed national intelligence and technology. We strengthened basic education, encouraged teacher training and increased student retention. Education is the path to transformation."

Drawing attention to social policies and the fight against hunger, Lula da Silva said, "In the fight against hunger. By restarting social policies, we removed the country from the Hunger Map and reduced severe food insecurity to its lowest level ever. A hungry people cannot exercise sovereignty."
