Pavel: Czechia is one of nine countries with a research base in Antarctica
Buenos Aires, April 15 (Hibya) – Czech President Petr Pavel stated that Antarctic cooperation and scientific research were discussed during his engagements in Argentina.
Czech President Petr Pavel made a statement regarding his meetings in Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina.
Pavel said, “Alongside entrepreneurs, representatives from the Czech Academy of Sciences, universities, and research institutions are also accompanying me on my Latin America trip.”
Referring to the content of the meetings, Pavel stated, “In my meetings with Chamber of Deputies Speaker Martín Menem, Buenos Aires Mayor Jorge Macri, and local representatives, we discussed Antarctica.”
Highlighting Czechia’s role in Antarctica, Pavel said, “The Czech Republic is one of nine countries that have their own polar research base and is an important partner of Argentina in this field.”
Pavel added, “The Antarctic Treaty Secretariat located in Buenos Aires coordinates international cooperation on the continent.”
Noting that other topics were also discussed, Pavel said, “In addition to science and research, we also discussed the issue of housing affordability, which Buenos Aires faces similarly to Prague.”
