Russian-American talks begin in Istanbul
Istanbul, April 10 (Hibya) – Talks between Russian and American delegations have started in Istanbul.
The meeting is taking place at the Russian Consulate; Moscow is represented by Russian Ambassador to the United States Alexander Darchiev, while Washington is represented by Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Sonata Coulter.
Alexander Darchiev, Russia’s ambassador to Washington, stated that Russia will raise the issue of returning diplomatic properties during the meeting with the US in Istanbul.
According to Darchiev, the sides will also discuss the resumption of direct flights between the two countries, which had been suspended by Washington.
The process of restoring relations between Moscow and Washington began on February 18 with a delegation meeting in Riyadh. The parties agreed to create conditions for fully resuming bilateral cooperation, lifting restrictions on embassy operations, and launching efforts to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
