Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar announced that he met with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl.

Saar said that during the meeting he presented Israel’s positions on current issues and that they discussed in detail attacks in the West Bank that he attributed to Palestinians.

In his statement, Saar described Austria as a friendly country to Israel and said, “Austria is a friend of Israel, and our relationship with Austria is important to us.”

Saar said the attacks in the West Bank resulted in the death of Netanel Shukrun and the serious injury of Neria Leiter, the son of Israel’s ambassador to the United States, adding that these developments were also discussed during the meeting.

Saar also said that Israel supports Austria’s candidacy for the United Nations Security Council and noted that they discussed Austria’s upcoming term on the Council. Saar said this period “requires closer cooperation and regular exchanges of information and views.”
