President Trump described the Supreme Court’s decision on tariffs as a “deep disappointment.” He said, “I am ashamed that some Members of the Court did not have the courage to do what is right for our country.” Trump particularly praised Justices Thomas, Alito, and Kavanaugh, stating, “We are proud of your strength, wisdom, and love for our country. When you read the dissenting opinions, you can see that no one can truly object to them.”

Trump noted that the court’s decision was welcomed with joy by foreign countries, adding, “But they won’t be dancing for long!” The former president argued that the ruling was shaped by some judges’ concerns about “political correctness” or by serving “RINOs and Radical Left Democrats.” He also claimed that the decision was influenced by foreign interests and small but loud political movements.

Emphasizing the symbolic importance of the case, Trump said, “This case was more of a symbol for me in terms of economic and national security.”

Trump also listed the effects of his tariff policies: “Our stock market reached 50,000 on the DOW and 7,000 on the S&P. We ended five wars, strengthened our national security, and reduced fentanyl inflows by 30 percent thanks to our borders.”

Although the court rejected certain tariffs under the IEEPA, Trump argued that the president’s authority to regulate trade remains strong. Quoting Kavanaugh’s dissent, he said, “I believe the decision may not significantly limit the president’s authority to impose tariffs in the future. That is because other federal laws granting the president tariff authority remain in place, including the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, the Trade Act of 1974, and the Tariff Act of 1930.”

Trump announced that the existing Section 232 and 301 tariffs will remain in effect and that an additional 10 percent global tariff will be implemented under Section 122. “The Court’s decision confirmed the president’s authority to block, restrict, or license trade with foreign countries,” Trump said, adding, “It is now possible to impose even more tariffs than I did in the past.”

The former president argued that the ruling actually makes the president’s trade authority “stronger and clearer” and stated that he will continue to “protect our country” with additional measures.
