Sybiha: Our commitment to peace efforts continues despite Russia’s attacks
New York, May 26 (Hibya) - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha commented on Russia’s attacks and international calls for support ahead of the United Nations (UN) Security Council open debate.
Sybiha made a statement ahead of the UN Security Council open debate titled “Maintenance of the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.”
Sybiha said, “I thank the 50 UN member states and the EU Delegation that co-sponsored the joint statement ahead of today’s UNSC open debate.”
Referring to Russia’s attacks, Sybiha stated, “Ukraine remains committed to peace efforts. Meanwhile, Russia continues to intensify its attacks and terror against civilians.”
Sybiha thanked the countries that condemned threats against diplomatic missions and emphasized the importance of this stance.
Concluding his statement, Sybiha said, “The effectiveness of efforts to uphold the purposes and principles of the UN Charter depends on the international community’s ability to stop Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.”
