Szijjarto: We are blocking the EU’s 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine
Budapest, 20 February (Hibya) - Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto announced that Hungary is blocking the European Union’s (EU) 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine due to the suspension of oil flows through the Druzhba pipeline.
In his statement, Szijjarto said, “Until oil flows to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline are restored, we are blocking the EU’s 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine.”
The minister claimed that Ukraine’s decision to halt oil flows was aimed at creating supply shortages in Hungary ahead of elections and increasing fuel prices, adding, “Ukraine is blackmailing Hungary in coordination with Brussels and the Hungarian opposition.”
Szijjarto also emphasized that this move violates the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, stating, “By preventing oil flows to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline, Ukraine is breaching its commitments to the European Union. We will not yield to this blackmail.”
