Trade between China and APEC economies rises 21 percent
In the first seven months of this year, the total volume of imports and exports between China and other APEC economies rose 21 percent year-on-year to 18.03 trillion yuan.
According to data released at the 2026 APEC Customs and Business Dialogue, Asia-Pacific economies account for more than 60 percent of the global economy, while the region’s trade volume represents approximately half of global trade.
APEC Secretariat Executive Director Eduardo Pedrosa said small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) account for 97 percent of businesses in the Asia-Pacific region. Pedrosa emphasized that facilitating SMEs’ trade activities, simplifying documentation procedures and promoting the mutual recognition of documents will be among the region’s priority areas of work in the coming years.
As part of the dialogue, China’s General Administration of Customs held meetings with representatives of the Customs and Excise Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Department of Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and Chile’s Ministry of Agriculture.
