Tsahkna: Borders should be closed to Russian fighters
Tallinn, February 16 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna argued that Europe’s experience with fighters returning from Iraq and Syria shows that a similar risk applies to Russian fighters.
In an opinion piece published in the French newspaper Le Monde, Tsahkna stated that Europe has had “bitter experiences” with armed elements returning from Iraq and Syria.
“Europe learned the hard way that militants with combat experience bring radicalization and violence. The same applies to Russian fighters,” he said.
He therefore argued that European countries should close their borders to these individuals and called for a common and determined stance to prevent security risks.
