Kyiv, June 7 (Hibya) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia carried out an attack on the exclusion zone around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant and that one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility was hit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia had attacked the exclusion zone around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
Zelensky said: "Today, the Russians once again struck the exclusion zone around the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant. A Shahed drone hit one of the buildings of the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility." He noted that the attack targeted a critically important infrastructure facility and that Ukrainian teams extinguished the fire after the incident.
Zelensky reported that, according to current measurements, no increase above normal radiation levels had been detected. "As of now, no readings above normal background radiation levels have been recorded. However, it is clear that Russia's recklessness is increasing," he said. He added that Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Energy, and relevant institutions were working to inform international partners about the development.
Zelensky also claimed that over the past week Russia had used 88 missiles, more than 3,250 attack drones, and approximately 1,800 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader stated: "Pressure on Russia must be increased. I thank everyone who is helping."
