Albares: Developments in the Middle East discussed with Egypt
Madrid, April 5 (Hibya) – Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares stated that he discussed developments in the Middle East and incidents of racism with his Egyptian counterpart.
Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, issued a statement regarding his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty.
Albares noted that they discussed the Mediterranean and global impacts of the war in Iran, saying: “I spoke with my Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty about the Mediterranean and global effects of the war in Iran. I thanked him for Egypt’s mediation efforts to end the war.”
He added that developments in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon were also on the agenda, stating: “We also addressed the critical situation in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon.”
Albares also referred to racist chants during the match between Spain and Egypt, stating: “I emphasized that such behavior represents neither Spanish society nor the values of sport.”
Highlighting Spain’s stance against racism and violence, Albares said: “Spain is a country that rejects racism and violence, and is tolerant and pluralistic.”
