Anand: Canada will not let others decide its future
Ottawa, November 4 (Hibya) - Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced a $1.6 billion investment in Cohere to develop the country's artificial intelligence capabilities. The investment aims to strengthen Canada's independent AI capacity and create at least 1,000 highly skilled jobs.
Anand stated that Canada would not allow other countries to determine its future, emphasizing that the country was strengthening its sovereignty, security, and economy in line with its National Security Strategy. "Canada will not let others decide its future. We are strengthening our sovereignty, our security, and our economy so that we can continue to have a say in our own country," Anand said.
Anand noted that the investment in Cohere would support the growth of a globally competitive Canadian company and ensure that Canadians benefit from that growth. "We are building the future of artificial intelligence here, on our own terms, and for Canadians," she stated.
