Bulgarian Interior Ministry: A 63-year-old man detained in Suhindol
Sofia, March 26 (Hibya) - Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry announced that during special operations carried out to “prevent activities violating election legislation” ahead of upcoming elections, numerous individuals were detained in areas including Suhindol and Strazhitsa, and name lists and cash were seized.
Bulgaria’s Interior Ministry shared the results of large-scale operations conducted nationwide to combat conventional crime and ensure election security.
In a raid in the town of Suhindol, searches of the home and vehicle of a 63-year-old individual previously known to police and convicted revealed lists containing names and corresponding sums of money, as well as large amounts of cash in euros and U.S. dollars.
The individual was detained for 24 hours and an investigation was launched.
In the Strazhitsa phase of the operation, inspections covering the villages of Kesarevo, Bryagovitsa, Asenovo and Kamen involved checks of 17 addresses, 69 vehicles and 150 individuals.
In this area, 3 people were detained for activities violating election legislation and drug possession, 7 theft cases were solved and 8 warning protocols were issued.
