Guterres calls for $1.1 billion in support for Ebola response
Brussels, August 27 (Hibya) - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called for an additional $1.1 billion to fully fund the humanitarian response to Ebola.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the response to Ebola is being hampered by shortfalls in funding and operational support. Warning that time is running out, Guterres said the remaining $1.1 billion must be provided to fully fund the humanitarian response plan.
Guterres said more resources may be needed as the crisis progresses, stating, “We must defeat the virus of indifference.” Emphasizing that the world still has an opportunity to prevent the crisis from worsening further, Guterres reiterated his call for support from the international community.
