United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said he was pleased to address the International Law Commission, emphasizing the importance of international law in resolving global crises.

Reflecting on his address to the Commission and its current significance, Guterres said: "It was a pleasure to address the International Law Commission. At a time of profound challenges for international law and multilateralism, the Commission's work has never been more vital."

Describing the institution's role in addressing global challenges, Guterres said: "The Commission helps develop legal solutions to today's crises, strengthen justice and human rights, and shape the future development of international law."
