Israel criticizes UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Türk over Hezbollah
Jerusalem, July 27 (Hibya) - Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement following the reappointment of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk, criticizing his stance on Hezbollah's activities and arguing that the group's influence in the region is being overlooked.

In a statement posted on the ministry's social media account, it objected to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres' support for Volker Türk's continuation in a second term as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The statement criticized Türk's assessments regarding Hezbollah, saying, "For Türk, Hezbollah does not exist."
Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs alleged that Hezbollah, which it described as being backed by Iran, is dragging Lebanon into conflict and undermining the country's sovereignty.
The statement also claimed that the United Nations does not give sufficient attention to Hezbollah's activities and argued that this strengthens factors that obstruct the peace process between Israel and Lebanon.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry's statement came after Volker Türk began his second term in office.
