Meloni and Slovenian Prime Minister Jansa agree on action plan for strategic partnership
Rome, October 5 (Hibya) - Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced that she and Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa agreed to prepare an Action Plan covering defense, energy, connectivity, research and culture with the aim of elevating the partnership between the two countries to a strategic level.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni received Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa at Palazzo Chigi in Rome. The meeting addressed relations between the two countries as well as issues on the European Union agenda.
Meloni said, “We shared the objective of elevating our bilateral partnership to a strategic level through the adoption of an Action Plan focused on priority areas such as defense, energy, connectivity, research and innovation, and culture.”
The priorities of the next European Council meeting were also discussed. Meloni said increasing the EU’s competitiveness and structurally reducing energy costs for households and businesses were on the agenda.
Meloni highlighted initiatives Italy is pursuing with other member states for a more pragmatic European approach to the energy transition and industrial policy. She said the next Multiannual Financial Framework should allocate sufficient resources both for the EU’s new priorities and for traditional policies such as cohesion and agriculture.
The two leaders also discussed the management of migration flows, particularly strengthening the external dimension, returns and innovative solutions.
