Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni made a statement on the anniversary of the death of Judge Rosario Livatino. Meloni said Livatino was a judge who carried out his duty without compromise while defending justice and the rule of law.

Meloni said Livatino was killed by the mafia in a cowardly assassination, adding, “Today, once again, we respectfully remember his courage, his faith, and that extraordinary integrity that enabled him never to back down in the face of mafia violence.”

Meloni said that Livatino, who was only 37 years old, would remain a hero forever thanks to the exemplary stance and integrity he displayed, adding, “Italy does not forget him.”
