Netanyahu: I condemn the damage to a Catholic religious icon
Jerusalem (Hibya) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a statement regarding the allegation that an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier damaged a Catholic religious icon in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he was “shocked and deeply saddened” upon learning of the incident, adding, “I strongly condemn this act.”
The statement noted that military authorities have launched a judicial investigation into the incident and that the responsible individual will face appropriate disciplinary action.
Netanyahu also stated that Israel ensures freedom of worship for people of different faiths and expressed his regret to believers in Lebanon and around the world over the incident.
