Pezeshkian: Our defense is directed only at legitimate targets
Tehran, March 7 (Hibya) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country targeted only the United States’ (US) military bases and facilities in the region, emphasizing that the defense is legitimate and necessary.
In his statement, Iranian President Pezeshkian said: “We did not attack friendly and neighboring countries; we only targeted US bases, facilities, and military capabilities in the region. We are resisting by putting our lives on the line to defend our country.”
Pezeshkian noted that Iran’s defense operations were carried out only against facilities and capabilities that are the source of aggressive actions against the Iranian people and that they consider these to be legitimate targets.
He also stated: “The Islamic Republic of Iran has always attached importance to maintaining friendly relations with the countries of the region within the framework of good neighborliness and respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity. This does not eliminate Iran’s right to defend itself against possible military attacks by the United States and Israel.”
