Washington, June 4 (Hibya) - United States (US) Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a statement on the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square events.
United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that, on the 37th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square events, they honor those who defended freedom of expression and the right to peaceful assembly.
Emphasizing the historical significance of the events and democratic rights, Rubio said, “On June 4, the world marks the 37th anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party ordering its troops to attack thousands of peaceful demonstrators in and around Tiananmen Square.”
Expressing his commitment to the protection of universal rights, Rubio concluded his statement with the following words:
