Foreign Minister Sybiha stated that Russia’s illegal recruitment of soldiers in Africa revives the worst memories of the colonial mindset of the past.

Noting that Russia takes advantage of the vulnerabilities of African mercenaries and regards them as “disposable soldiers,” Sybiha said, “There is no accountability; they are simply used as cheap cannon fodder. We welcome efforts to raise awareness of Russia’s illegal recruitment schemes and to shut them down.”

Sybiha added, “We warn all citizens of vulnerable countries in Africa and other regions, especially young people, to refrain from signing any contracts with Russian officials or recruiters. Do not let them deceive you and drag you into a war that has nothing to do with you.”
