Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on behalf of the Italian Government, extended his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in floods affecting Nepal and the Tibet region.

Tajani said Italy stands in solidarity with the authorities and people in the affected areas, adding that he is closely monitoring the situation of Italian citizens in the regions.

Tajani said the Nepal Task Force had been activated to establish a support point for Italian citizens in Kathmandu following the deployment of a Crisis Unit delegation from Rome. He also said personnel from the Italian Embassy in New Delhi had been sent to Kathmandu to strengthen the on-the-ground presence and support for Italian citizens.

Tajani said the Italian Foreign Ministry is continuing its efforts to reach citizens who have not yet been contacted and provide them with the support they need, adding that the Crisis Unit's dedicated hotline at +39 06 36225 is also operational.
