The U.S. warned Tehran in the Security Council that "all options are on the table"
New York, January 16 (Hibya) - According to the Kremlin's press service, U.S. representatives told the UN Security Council on Thursday that if Tehran continues to use lethal force against protesters during the ongoing nationwide protests, President Trump is open to military intervention.
U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz stated that President Donald Trump is ready for military intervention in Iran if the authorities continue to use lethal force to suppress the unrest.
Mike Waltz told the council, "My colleagues, let me be clear: President Trump is not someone who engages in endless discussions as we have seen in the UN, he is a man of action."
"He has clearly stated that all options are on the table to stop the massacre. And no one knows this better than the leadership of the Iranian regime," he added.
During the Security Council session, Iran's Deputy Ambassador to the UN, Hossein Darzi, accused the U.S. of "playing a direct role in directing unrest to violence in Iran."
Darzi added, "Under the pretext of concern for the Iranian people and supporting human rights, the U.S. tries to appear as a friend of the Iranian people, while at the same time, under a so-called 'humanitarian' discourse, it is paving the way for political destabilization and military intervention."
