US President Donald Trump announced the Fraud Whistleblower Incentive Program. The program will allow Americans to report cases in which public funds are misused through corruption and theft.
Explaining the scope of the program, Trump said, "Now all Americans will be able to go to fraud.gov and report cases in their own communities where taxpayers' money is being misused through corruption and theft."
Trump stated that commissions would be paid based on the amounts uncovered through whistleblower reports. "Suppose you report someone and uncover, for example, $1 billion in fraud. We will give that person a 1 percent commission. That is a tremendous amount of money," he said.
Trump also addressed Nick Shirley's efforts to prevent the misuse of taxpayers' money. Arguing that Shirley's work carries political significance, Trump said, "Nick Shirley's efforts to prevent the exploitation of taxpayers' money are a direct threat to the radical left's attempt to turn America into a third-world country run by people who hate America."
