Zelensky: Approval of security guarantees by the U.S. Congress is crucial
Munich, February 14 (Hibya) – President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky met with U.S. senators at the Munich Security Conference to discuss additional air defense systems, new sanctions bills against Russia, and security guarantees.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting with members of the United States Senate on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Drawing attention to Russia's attacks on energy infrastructure, Zelensky said, “I informed them about Russia's large-scale attacks on Ukraine’s energy system, our recovery needs, and our requirement for additional air defense missiles for protection.”
Noting that there was agreement on increasing diplomatic pressure and sanctions, Zelensky stated, “Increasing pressure on Russia through stronger sanctions can significantly strengthen diplomatic efforts. I thank the senators for their willingness to pass a sanctions bill against Russia in the near future.”
Emphasizing the critical importance of security guarantees for Ukrainian society, Zelensky said, “Clarity and precise understanding of every point are extremely important for our society’s trust in the security guarantees document. For all Ukrainians, it is vital that security guarantees be approved by the U.S. Congress.”
