Croatia reiterates support for Western Balkans’ EU accession process
New York, September 21 (Hibya) – Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman attended a meeting on the Western Balkans’ European Union accession process on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
Croatian Foreign Minister Radman attended a working breakfast hosted by Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani as part of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to a statement from Croatia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radman took part in a meeting with the foreign ministers of the Friends of the Western Balkans Group and their counterparts from the Western Balkans.
The statement said Croatia reiterated its support for a credible, fair and merit-based European Union enlargement process. It emphasized that gradual integration should serve as a bridge to membership rather than a substitute for it.
The meeting addressed turning political commitments into concrete results, strengthening economic, transport, energy and digital connectivity, and closer cooperation in the areas of security and resilience.
Regional cooperation, good-neighborly relations, reconciliation and alignment with the European Union’s Common Foreign and Security Policy were described as important for making sustainable progress toward EU membership.
