Dutch Prime Minister Jetten issued a statement on the Ministry of Defense’s work regarding developments on the modern battlefield.

Jetten said developments in modern warfare, including under the influence of the war in Ukraine, are advancing at a dizzying pace. He said that for this reason, the Ministry of Defense continues to invest in flexibility, innovation and technology.

Jetten said he had watched various demonstrations in this field within the Army and noted that drones and other unmanned ground and aerial vehicles are taking on an increasingly important role on the battlefield.

Jetten said the Army’s combat units are learning at a rapid pace how to use modern technologies in their operations.

Jetten said that at 't Harde in Gelderland, the Drone Task Force, the 101 CEMA Battalion and the 44th Armored Infantry Battalion demonstrated how they cooperate in detecting enemy drones and ground units. He described the work as impressive and said the cooperation was carried out closely and precisely.

Jetten said the Ministry of Defense must grow in order to continue protecting the Netherlands and its allies, and stated that investments would continue. He also noted that sufficient space is provided for such exercises and that they are conducted with consideration for the environment and nature.
