European Council President Costa: Our support for Ukraine will continue
Brussels, 13 February (Hibya) - President of the European Council Antonio Costa announced that the latest situation in Ukraine and developments in the peace negotiations were discussed at the meeting hosted by the German Chancellor.
Costa stated that they welcome all efforts towards a sustainable peace and described the recently agreed prisoner exchange deal as “a positive step.”
Emphasizing that the EU’s main objective is to continue strengthening Ukraine while advancing towards peace, Costa said that comprehensive political, military, and financial support for Ukraine will continue, and that support for the country’s EU accession process will also be maintained.
Costa noted that on 24 February, the anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression, he will travel to Kyiv and deliver a message of solidarity at Maidan Square together with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
