Humanitarian Aid Support from the EU to Somalia
Brussels, February 26 (Hibya) - The European Union (EU) announced that it has allocated €63 million in humanitarian aid to support vulnerable communities in Somalia amid ongoing conflicts and displacement.
The EU stated that it has allocated €63 million in humanitarian funding to support the most vulnerable communities in Somalia affected by ongoing conflict and displacement, as well as worsening drought and rising food prices.
The announcement comes at a time when drought-related food insecurity and malnutrition rates are rapidly increasing across the country, with 6.5 million people facing hunger and an estimated 1.85 million children under the age of five at risk of acute malnutrition.
The EU funding will prioritize life-saving integrated health and nutrition services, including the treatment of severe/acute malnutrition, emergency cash assistance, water, sanitation, protection, and emergency education.
