Lahbib calls for joint coordination against Ebola outbreak
Brussels, 16 June (Hibya) - European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib met with the health ministers of Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Greece, Belgium and Cyprus, emphasizing the need for joint measures and coordination against the Ebola outbreak.
Within the framework of the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council, the health ministers of European Union countries assessed the latest situation regarding the Ebola outbreak.
European Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management Hadja Lahbib, who attended the meeting, stressed that the fight against the epidemic must be conducted not only at national level but also in a coordinated manner at the European level.
The meeting reached consensus on joint action based on scientific data, risk analysis and early response mechanisms. EU countries also agreed to strengthen information sharing and coordination between health systems.
