Lavrov: It is time for a summit of the permanent members of the UN Security Council
Moscow, March 8 (Hibya) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov revived the idea of holding a summit among the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, stating that the time has come to take such a step.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs shared a statement by Minister Sergey Lavrov regarding global diplomacy and the structure of the UN Security Council.
Recalling a previous proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Lavrov said: “President Vladimir Putin proposed holding a summit of the permanent members of the UN Security Council long before the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Emphasizing that the proposal remains relevant, Lavrov stated: “In my opinion, now is exactly the right time to implement this idea.”
