French President Emmanuel Macron met with President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

During the meeting, the health situation in the eastern part of the country caused by the Ebola virus disease was discussed.

The two leaders reiterated their commitment to conducting a coordinated fight against the outbreak.

Macron stated that strengthening economic relations between the two countries with the support of the private sector is also a goal, saying, "Finally, we exchanged views on the situation in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. France supports the ongoing peace efforts aimed at restoring the full sovereignty of the Democratic Republic of the Congo over its entire territory."
