European Parliament President Roberta Metsola held a meeting with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the escalating tensions and security crisis in the region.

Speaking about the meeting, Metsola said: “This morning I had a good meeting with United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Iran targeting the United Arab Emirates and other countries in the Gulf is condemnable, unacceptable and unjustifiable.”

Metsola also highlighted the role played by the UAE in ensuring the safe departure of European citizens from the region, stating: “We are grateful for the UAE’s leadership and support in ensuring the safety of European citizens and facilitating assistance and return efforts. We remain in close contact with our regional partners.”
