Tajani meets with U.S. counterpart Rubio
Rome, January 16 (Hibya) – Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani announced that he held a phone call with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Tajani said he held a comprehensive phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Regarding the call, Tajani stated: “I confirmed to the Secretary of State that I will be in Washington in February for the meeting on critical minerals.”
Expressing satisfaction with U.S. support for the release of Alberto Trentini and other Italian political detainees, Tajani said: “I conveyed my thanks for the support given toward the release of our other citizens held in Venezuelan prisons.”
Referring to Greenland, Tajani said: “I once again underlined the importance of ensuring security in the Arctic region within the NATO framework.”
Tajani noted that Italy wants to work together with the United States on the crisis in Iran and on achieving peace in Ukraine, adding: “We want to consult and act jointly with the U.S. on these issues.”
On Gaza, Tajani stated: “I reiterated our commitment to the implementation of the second phase of the U.S. Plan, covering humanitarian aid, security, governance, and reconstruction.”
