Trump: If cars are produced in US factories, there will be no tariffs
Washington, May 2 (Hibya) – US President Donald Trump announced that he may increase tariffs on cars and trucks imported from the European Union (EU) to 25 percent next week.
According to CCTV, US President Donald Trump stated on Truth Social that the EU is not complying with the US-EU trade agreement.
Trump said he was pleased to announce the increase in tariffs on cars and trucks coming to the US from the EU, adding that the rate would be raised to 25 percent.
Referring to tariff conditions, Trump said: “It is fully understood and agreed that if cars and trucks are produced in factories in the United States, there will be no tariffs whatsoever.”
Bernd Lange, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade, condemned the US plan to impose auto tariffs on the same day.
