U.S. President Donald Trump described the EU's penalties as illegal and discriminatory, announcing that an investigation will be launched and tariffs will be imposed to protect American companies.

Targeting the European Union's decisions, Trump said: "The European Union is at it again and, as always, is directly targeting great American companies! After fining Apple $15 billion for absolutely no reason, Meta $3 billion, Amazon $2.5 billion, and many other companies, we have now learned that Google, a truly outstanding company, has also been hit with another $1 billion fine without any explanation. That brings Google's total fines to more than $18 billion!"

Pointing out that these practices began under the previous administration and would end during his own, Trump stated: "This illegal and highly discriminatory practice reached these levels in the first year of Sleepy Joe Biden's administration, but it will not continue under the Trump administration. The United States is not Europe's 'piggy bank,' and we will not allow it to be!"

Referring to the legal process, Trump said: "Please take this as notice that we will immediately launch a Section 301 Investigation into this practice of 'robbing' American companies and, therefore, American taxpayers."

Trump concluded: "The European Union will pay a very heavy price for this illegal and highly unethical behavior that I have repeatedly warned about. The fines will be fully reversed, and we expect to impose substantial tariffs on them as soon as possible."
