Tsahkna: The EU must increase pressure on Russia
Tallinn, February 12 (Hibya) - Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna met with Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Taras Kachka in the Estonian capital, Tallinn.
Speaking after the meeting, Tsahkna stated that Ukraine has been defending both itself and Europe’s security for four years while continuing its reforms on the path toward European Union membership. He noted that Russia continues its attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure, describing the targeting of electricity, heating and water infrastructure in the middle of winter as “deliberate terror against the Ukrainian people.”
Calling on the European Union, Tsahkna emphasized the need to increase pressure on Russia, urging the swift adoption of the 20th sanctions package, stronger isolation of Russia, and full accountability for the crime of aggression.
Tsahkna stated that Estonia strongly supports Ukraine’s rapid accession to the European Union, adding, “A strong Europe needs Ukraine.”
