In a statement, the IDF said: “In recent hours, the Israel Defense Forces have begun operating in the Shejaiya area of northern Gaza. The aim is to deepen control over the region and expand the security zone.”

The statement emphasized that Israel will continue to protect its citizens:

“As part of this operation, the IDF has so far neutralized several militants and destroyed terrorist infrastructure. During and before the operation, the IDF is facilitating the evacuation of civilians from the combat zone and directing them to safe areas via designated routes. The Israel Defense Forces continue their operations against terrorist organizations in Gaza in order to protect Israeli citizens.”
