Trump dismisses Homeland Security Secretary Noem
Washington, March 5 (Hibya) - U.S. President Donald Trump announced that he dismissed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and appointed Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin to replace her.
U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin will serve as the United States Secretary of Homeland Security starting March 31, 2026.
Trump stated that the current Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, will serve as a special envoy as part of the new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere, called “America Shield,” which will be announced.
In his statement, Trump said, “I am pleased to announce that the highly respected U.S. Senator Markwayne Mullin from the State of Oklahoma will become the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security starting March 31, 2026.”
Referring to border security and the fight against illegal immigration in his statement, Trump said Mullin “will work tirelessly to secure the borders, combat illegal immigration and drug trafficking, and make America safe again.”
