Vance criticized El-Sayed’s economic policies, saying, “This is not someone who wants auto workers and everyone else to live prosperously and, if they choose, be able to support a family on one salary. The economy he is actually trying to build is one where you tax some people and transfer that money to interest groups supported by the Democratic Party.”

Addressing California’s food assistance program, Vance argued that the eligibility of people benefiting from assistance programs in the state is not adequately verified. Vance said, “I was literally shocked when I first realized that when we send the state of California $8 billion to run the food assistance program, they do not even verify eligibility.”

Vance said the programs are not designed for people who do not have appropriate legal status, stating, “The program is not for illegal immigrants. It is not for fraudsters either.” Vance claimed that eligibility and verification requirements have been lowered in California and other Democrat-run states and said those states would be required to implement basic checks.

Vance added that it should also be checked whether people applying for food assistance are legally present in the country.
